[MOBILITY](/blog?category=mobility)

We’ve all heard it before: “Take care of your body! You only get one, after all.” While this phrase is often uttered with good intentions, it can be difficult to know exactly how to take care of the body and prevent pain or injury from occurring. One way to do this is by strengthening your hamstrings; let’s break down why.

What are the Hamstrings?

The hamstrings are three muscles located on the back of the thigh that are responsible for knee flexion (bending) and hip extension (pushing). This means that when you bend down to pick something up off the floor or push a chair in at the dinner table, you’re using your hamstrings.

Why Strengthen Your Hamstrings?

You may be wondering why strengthening your hamstrings is so important. Well, having strong hamstrings plays an important role in preventing pain and injury related to weak muscles. Weak hamstrings can cause tightness and strain in other parts of the body such as the hips and lower back, which can lead to pain or even more serious injuries like sprains or tears. Strengthening these muscles can help us stay strong and healthy for years to come!

How To Strengthen Your Hamstrings

For those who are new to working out, there are some simple exercises that you can try at home or at the gym to strengthen your hamstrings. In my 21 day program, I give you all the tools you need to start moving gradually with stretching and creating strength. Be sure to start slowly with light weights and build up gradually as you become more comfortable with each exercise. Additionally, focus on form over speed; proper form will help ensure that you get maximum benefit from each exercise while avoiding any potential discomfort or injury.

Working out doesn’t have to be painful—and it certainly doesn’t have to result in injury! With the proper tools, and targeted exercises for your hamstrings, you’ll be able to strengthen this group of muscles so that they support you through all types of workouts. Have a question?
