TOP MOVEMENT EQUIPMENT FAVOURITES FOR BEGINNERS AND CHRONIC PAIN

EXERCISES, HOW TO MAKE EXERCISE ACCESSIBLE TO YOU, MOBILITY

When it comes to exercising, the right equipment can make a big difference in your experience and the results you achieve. I understand the importance of finding equipment that is supportive, comfortable, and effective. Whether you are just starting out on your fitness journey, or looking to mix up your routine, these are my favourite pieces of movement equipment that are accessible, affordable, and great for all levels of fitness.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands come in various sizes and strengths, making them an accessible option for all fitness levels. They’re a great alternative to weights, allowing you to strengthen your body without putting added stress on your joints. Additionally, resistance bands are easy to pack for travel and can be used for a wide range of exercises, making them an excellent addition to any movement routine.

Bosu Ball

A bosu ball is a half-ball with a flat bottom that can be used for cardio, balance, and strength training. It’s a useful piece of equipment for those with chronic pain or mobility issues because it can be used for low-impact exercises. With a bosu ball, you can do exercises that improve your core strength, stability, and balance. You can try doing squats, lunges, or even push-ups on the bosu ball to get a full-body workout. With the added balance component, it’s important to make sure you are starting slow and gradually increasing in intensity. It can be a dangerous piece if used incorrectly so be sure to get guidance on proper use before use.

Kettle Bells

Kettle bells are a great way to add weight to your workouts without putting too much pressure on your joints. They can help build strength in your muscles, particularly your glutes, hamstrings and shoulders. Kettle bells can be used to do various exercises including deadlifts, swings, cleans, and presses. When selecting a kettlebell, don’t go too heavy. Start with a lighter weight and gradually increase as you get comfortable using them.

Gliders

Lastly, we have gliders, which are small discs or pads you place under your feet to use for workouts. They’re affordable, lightweight, and easy to store. You can do various exercises on gliders to increase core strength and stability. Gliders allow your feet to slide on surfaces like carpets, tiling or hardwood flooring, and allow you to move your body in new ways. There are endless exercises that you can do using gliders such as lunges, mountain climbers, planks, and knee tucks.

Movement equipment can easily become your best friend. Incorporating it in your workout routine is a great way to challenge your muscles, improve your balance and stability, and increase your range of motion. Remember to always listen to your body and modify exercises as per your comfort level.
